All Kids (Illinois Children's Health Coverage)

All Kids makes Illinois one of the few states where every child can be covered. Children 18 and under qualify regardless of immigration status. Papers are only looked at if you volunteer them. And applying itself does not affect immigration status (the narrow exception: nursing home or mental health facility services).
The price changed in families' favor. Since July 2022, the old Share and Premium tiers are gone. Every enrolled child is in All Kids Assist. No premiums. No copays. Articles quoting $15 to $40 monthly premiums describe a program that no longer exists.
Coverage is the full Medicaid package. Doctor visits. Dental. Prescriptions. Even rides to appointments. Well-child visits are always free, and most kids get care through a HealthChoice Illinois plan.
Two features parents miss. Up to three months of retroactive coverage can pay medical bills from before you applied, so apply even after the ER visit. And kids can qualify even with current or recent private insurance, with Medicaid paying second.
