Georgia Medicaid is really several doors, and knowing yours saves weeks. Children qualify at real working-family incomes. For a family of three: $4,667 a month for babies under 1, $3,392 for ages 1 to 5, $3,028 for ages 6 to 19. Pregnant women reach $5,009 a month, with coverage continuing after birth; ask the office how long yours runs. One Gateway application checks every door.
For adults without a disability, the honest picture: Georgia did not expand Medicaid. The only adult path is Georgia Pathways, capped at $15,960 a year for one person. It requires 80 hours a month of activities: work, school, caregiving, job training, or SNAP participation. The hours are checked at application and yearly renewal, not monthly. A Good Cause Exception covers hard months. And Pathways has no retroactive coverage, so apply before the medical bills, not after.
Parents hoping to join their kids' coverage face the hardest line in the state: about $551 a month for a family of three. Most working parents will not qualify; their kids almost certainly will. Apply for the children no matter what.
Two shortcuts worth knowing. Express Lane Eligibility auto-enrolls or renews kids under 19 whose households already get SNAP, TANF, WIC, or subsidized child care, reusing the paperwork you already filed. And aged, blind, or disabled Georgians at SSI income levels ($994 a month single) have their own Medicaid category; ask for it when applying.
