M Street Navigation Center (CAPK)

M Street Navigation Center takes people in around the clock. Unlike most shelters, your pet can come with you. Inside: beds, meals, laundry, medical check-ups, and secure storage for your things. Staff work on moving every guest toward longer-term housing.

Arriving is most of the process. The center runs 24/7, so there's no cutoff time to beat and no appointment to book. Intake staff take your name, ask a few questions about your situation, and get you set up with a bed and storage. Say at the door if you have a pet with you; animals are part of the plan here, not an exception someone has to argue for. And the storage matters more than it sounds. Errands, appointments, and job interviews all get easier when you're not carrying everything you own.

The word "navigation" is the mission statement. This isn't only a cot for tonight. Staff work with every guest on the path to longer-term housing, so expect real conversations about what comes next, and say yes to them. The laundry, storage, and medical check-ups exist to make working that plan possible. If a health question has been waiting, the check-ups are the moment to raise it.
