Applying starts online but finishes in person. You first submit a pre-application through the Access MS common web portal, and that information routes to your local Community Action Agency, which contacts you to schedule an in-person appointment.
Timing depends on who you are. Vulnerable households, elderly people, those with disabilities, or families with children under 5, should expect an appointment within 30 business days; other applicants within about 45. So apply early, and mention if a vulnerable member lives with you.
The money goes where the bill is. Once approved, the Community Action Agency pays your energy provider directly, and you see a credit on your next energy bill.
