Montana WIC
Last updated August 2026
WIC gives healthy food, breastfeeding support, nutrition tips, and health referrals. It serves pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding people, infants, and children up to age 5. To start, find a clinic and prescreen at signupwic.com, or call 1-844-583-3237.
You do not have to be the mother to apply for a child. A father, grandparent, foster parent, or guardian raising a child under 5 can apply for that child. That way, the adult caring for the child can set up WIC.
The income line for WIC is 185 percent of the federal poverty level. That is higher than the SNAP cutoff. So a working family that does not qualify for food stamps may still qualify for WIC.
There is an income shortcut. If you already get Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF, you meet the WIC income test automatically. Bring proof of that benefit, and you do not have to prove your income a second time.
Start online at signupwic.com with the eligibility assessment. Then finish signing up at a local WIC clinic. Montana WIC has a Find a Clinic tool and a Participant Portal. Benefits are used at authorized WIC grocery stores to buy specific foods from the Montana WIC approved food list.
WIC adds to your food budget; it does not replace it. A family can hold both SNAP and WIC. A pregnancy is also a good time to apply for Medicaid or Healthy Montana Kids. Whether you qualify is decided at your clinic visit. Dial 2-1-1 to find nearby food and baby-supply help.
