Nebraska WIC gives healthy food at no cost, plus breastfeeding support, nutrition information, and health referrals. It serves pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and new mothers. It also serves infants and children up to age 5, including foster children. Nebraska WIC runs through local clinics across the state and serves about 36,000 people each month.
The income line follows the WIC guideline of 185 percent of the federal poverty level. The income table that took effect June 1, 2026 sets a family of one at $29,526 a year. That line is well above the SNAP cutoff. So a working family that earns too much for food stamps may still qualify for WIC. It is worth checking.
There is an easy way to meet the income test. If you already get Medicaid, SNAP, or ADC, that generally settles the income test for WIC. You still need to live in Nebraska, and the person applying must have a nutritional need. A clinic worker checks that at your appointment.
