Nevada Child Care Subsidy (Child Care and Development Program)

Nevada's Child Care and Development Program helps low-income working families pay for child care. The help lets a parent work, look for work, or attend school or training. The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services runs it. Apply through Access Nevada at accessnevada.nv.gov. For questions, call 775-684-0625.
Eligibility is set by State Median Income, or SMI. For a first-time application, your household must be at or below 41 percent of SMI. To renew later, the limit is a bit higher, at or below 49 percent of SMI. The office confirms the dollar figure for your household size.
The cost to you is simple and flat. Instead of a sliding scale, families pay a set monthly copay of $0, $90, or $150. Your amount depends on your household size and income. Many families pay nothing.
There is a strong stability rule. Once your family becomes eligible, you are guaranteed 12 months of subsidy coverage. So a small raise or a change in hours will not cut your child care off in the middle of the year.
New applications go on a waitlist. The list is reviewed every month and handled in the order applications came in. There is no set maximum wait time, so apply as early as you can to hold your place in line.
You can apply in more than one way. Apply through Access Nevada, by mail, or in person. In Southern Nevada you can also email ccdp@dss.nv.gov. In Northern Nevada the program is run by The Children's Cabinet, and you can email subsidy@childrenscabinet.org. You may qualify, but the program decides after it checks your income and need for care.
