New Hampshire WIC gives healthy food, nutrition help, and breastfeeding support to keep young families healthy. It serves pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and children under age 5. WIC covers four groups of people. Those are pregnant women; women who are breastfeeding, up to 12 months after the birth; women who are not breastfeeding, up to 6 months after the birth; and infants and children up to their 5th birthday. A parent, grandparent, foster parent, or guardian can apply on a child's behalf.
The income line is set at 185 percent of the poverty guideline, which is higher than the SNAP or cash-assistance limits. For the guidelines that run June 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, the top yearly income is $29,526 for a family of one, $40,034 for two, $50,542 for three, and $61,050 for four. So a working family that earns too much for food stamps may still qualify for WIC.
There are three simple rules to meet. You must be income eligible, live in the area your local clinic serves, and be found to have a nutrition need by a WIC nutritionist at your visit. The nutrition check is a normal part of the appointment.
The food benefits arrive on a WIC card, sometimes called eWIC. Families get a range of healthier choices, including fresh, frozen, and canned fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and infant foods. You also get nutrition education and support and encouragement for breastfeeding.
