Oregon SNAP puts monthly food money on an Oregon Trail Card, an EBT card you swipe like a debit card at grocery stores and farmers markets. Apply online through the ONE portal at one.oregon.gov, by phone, or in person at a local ODHS office. One application also covers cash assistance and the Oregon Health Plan.
Two reassurances up front. Your house, car, and money in the bank usually do not count against you, and getting SNAP does not affect your immigration status or count as a public charge. So a working family with a car and a small savings account should still apply.
The income line is generous. Monthly gross limits effective March 2026 through February 2027 are $2,660 for one person, $3,607 for two, $4,554 for three, $5,500 for four, plus $947 for each additional person, roughly 200 percent of the federal poverty level under Oregon's broad-based categorical eligibility.
After you apply, ODHS schedules an interview, by phone or in person, to review everything. Adults 60 or older can have out-of-pocket medical costs counted to offset income, which may raise their benefit, so bring proof of those.
Two paperwork moments keep benefits flowing. About halfway through your benefit period, ODHS mails a Periodic Report to confirm your information, and it must be returned on time. And about 45 days before renewal, a renewal packet arrives. Do not let either sit.
One work rule to note: adults 18 to 64 not caring for a child under 14, and without an exemption, must meet SNAP work rules or they can only get three months of benefits in three years.
