Florida SNAP is monthly grocery money on an EBT card, and its income door is wider than almost anyone believes: 200 percent of the poverty line, not the 130 percent other states use. A single person can earn $2,610 a month before taxes. A family of three, $4,442. A family of four, $5,360. Most households face no asset test at all, so savings do not disqualify you.
Apply at myaccess.myflfamilies.com, the state's portal since the old ACCESS Florida site retired. No computer? Call the automated line at 850-300-4323, mail a paper form, or visit a DCF community partner site; the portal has a partner directory.
It pays up to $298 a month for one person, $546 for two, $785 for three, $994 for four, with a $24 minimum for small households. Standard cases get decided within 30 days. Nearly broke? With under $150 in monthly income and $100 or less on hand, expedited rules push benefits out within about 4 to 6 days.
Two things that surprise applicants. First, an interview is not always required; if DCF needs one, a notice comes with the appointment. Second, if you get SSI, ask about SUNCAP: food assistance with no separate application at all.
The work rules got harsher in 2025. Adults 18 to 64 without a child under 14 at home must work or train 80 hours a month or lose benefits after 3 months in 3 years, and the old exemptions for homeless people, veterans, and former foster youth were eliminated. Being 65+, on disability, medically unfit, or working 30+ hours still exempts you. Denied or cut? You have 90 days to request a fair hearing.
