Unemployment Insurance (Colorado)

Colorado unemployment gives temporary partial income replacement to workers who lost work through no fault of their own. Claims are filed and managed online in MyUI+, and you must register with ID.me to log in. To estimate your weekly amount before filing, use the Colorado Unemployment Insurance Benefits Estimator.

You need a real work history to qualify. You must have been a W-2 employee and earned at least $2,500 in Colorado wages during the base period, the first four of the last five completed calendar quarters. If you fall short there, an alternate base period, the last four completed quarters, may work instead.

You must also be genuinely available. You need to be unemployed or working fewer than 32 hours a week and earning less than your weekly benefit, and be able and available to work. Within seven days of filing, register as a job seeker at ConnectingColorado.gov to keep your eligibility.

The weekly routine is where claims quietly die. You must request a benefit payment each week, even before a decision or during an appeal, or the claim closes. Each request reports your ability and availability, any income earned, hours worked, and your weekly work search activities. Put it on a calendar.

Part-time work does not automatically end your claim. You can earn up to 50 percent of your weekly benefit and still receive the full payment, after which benefits drop a dollar for each dollar earned above that. So a few shifts a week can leave you better off, not worse.

Keep good records: the state can audit claimant records for up to two years from the start of your claim.
