Unemployment Insurance (Kansas)

If you lost work through no fault of your own, you may get weekly unemployment pay from the Kansas Department of Labor. File your new claim online at KansasUI.gov, the site that replaced getkansasbenefits.gov. You must file a weekly certification for each week you claim.

Here is the pay range. For claims filed July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, the weekly benefit runs from $165 to $663. The state sets both a Weekly Benefit Amount and a Maximum Benefit Amount from the wages you earned in your base period. Your own amount depends on your past wages.

You need enough recent work. You must have wages in at least two quarters of your base period. You must also meet the weekly and maximum benefit math. The reason you left your job matters too. A layoff for lack of work generally qualifies.

Duration is not fixed. The number of weeks you can be paid is your Maximum Benefit Amount divided by your Weekly Benefit Amount. The maximum depends on the state's average unemployment rate, so the number of weeks can change over time. Your own claim shows your weeks.

You can work a little while claiming. You can earn up to 25 percent of your Weekly Benefit Amount without lowering your payment. Earnings above that lower the payment. Report vacation, holiday, bonus, pension, and separation pay when you file, since they may reduce or delay your benefits.

Keep the weekly routine going. A claim goes inactive if you miss certifying for 14 days, so certify on time.
