Unemployment Insurance (Missouri)

If you lost your job through no fault of your own, file your Missouri unemployment claim online through UInteract at uinteract.labor.mo.gov, or by phone at 800-320-2519. The maximum weekly benefit is $320, calculated as 4 percent of the average of your two highest base-period quarters.

Duration is not a flat number, so ignore the old 26-week rule. Missouri ties the maximum weeks to the state's average unemployment rate: 20 weeks when the rate is 9 percent or higher, sliding down to 13 weeks when it is below 6 percent. It is currently 13 weeks, so budget accordingly.

To qualify, you need at least $2,250 in base-period wages, including at least $1,500 in one quarter and $750 across the rest, and total wages of at least one and a half times your highest quarter.

You must be able and available for full-time work each week, with nothing that would keep you from working. And you must complete work-search activity, including visiting jobs.mo.gov at least once a month to search postings and build a resume.

Report honestly each week. When you certify, report all wages earned that week even if not yet paid, including tips, commissions, bonuses, and military reserve pay. Underreporting creates an overpayment later.
