If you lost work through no fault of your own, you may be able to get unemployment benefits from the Nebraska Department of Labor. The maximum weekly benefit amount is $582 for 2026. Not everyone gets the maximum. Your weekly amount is based on your highest-earning base-period quarter. The state takes those wages, divides by 13, then divides by 2, and rounds down to the next even dollar. That result is your weekly benefit amount.

There is a cap on the total you can collect in a benefit year. The total is the lesser of two numbers. One is 26 times your weekly benefit amount. The other is one-third of your total base-period wages. Whichever is less is your cap. In practice, that means up to 26 weeks of payments.

To qualify, you need enough recent work and wages in Nebraska. You also must have lost the job through no fault of your own. This page cannot promise you will be approved. The Department of Labor reviews your work history and the reason your job ended, then decides.
