Utah CHIP (Children's Health Insurance)

Utah CHIP is low-cost health coverage for uninsured Utah children and teens under age 19. It covers checkups, doctor visits, dental, vision, and prescriptions. Apply online through myCase at jobs.utah.gov/mycase, the same form used for Medicaid, or call 1-877-543-7669, which spells 1-877-KIDS-NOW.
To qualify, a child must be under age 19 and not currently covered by health insurance. Children must be U.S. citizens or legal residents to enroll. One myCase form can check a child for both CHIP and Medicaid at once.
Income limits are posted as dollar amounts by family size. For a family of two, the maximum is $3,607 a month, or $43,284 a year. For a family of eight, it is $9,287 a month, or $111,444 a year. These figures took effect March 2026 and update with the yearly federal poverty guidelines.
Cost is smaller than many parents fear. CHIP families pay through co-pays, but total cost-sharing is capped. A family is never charged more than 5 percent of its income in co-pays and deductibles per benefit year.
Some children pay even less. American Indian and Alaska Native children pay no co-pays. Families with no income in the benefit year owe no co-pays or deductibles at all.
