Utah Medicaid

Utah Medicaid is free or low-cost health coverage for children, pregnant people, parents, older adults, people with disabilities, and low-income adults. Apply online through myCase at jobs.utah.gov/mycase, or call the Medicaid information line at 1-866-608-9422.

The big change is adult expansion. Utah expanded Medicaid in 2020, so it now covers adults age 19 through 64 whose income is up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level. A single adult with no children can be covered, which was not always true here. Apply even if you were turned down before.

Here are the income examples for the adult group. Coverage reaches about $17,608 per year for one person, or about $36,156 per year for a family of four. If your pay is near that line, apply and let the state check.

Other groups have their own pathways. Across all groups, the monthly income standard runs from about 55 percent to 133 percent of the federal poverty level depending on the category, and a 5 percent income disregard effectively raises several limits to 138 percent. Children, pregnant people, seniors, and people with disabilities each have a route.

Medicaid is for people with low income and limited resources, and you must qualify each month for coverage to continue. Keep your contact information current so renewal notices reach you.
