Utah WIC gives healthy food, breastfeeding support, nutrition education, and health referrals. The income line is 185 percent of the federal poverty level, higher than SNAP's cutoff. WIC posts the limits by household size. A household of one must be at or below $29,526 a year. A household of four must be at or below $61,050 a year.
For bigger families, the math is simple. Add $10,508 to the yearly income limit for each additional family member beyond the listed sizes. So a working family that earns too much for food stamps may still qualify for WIC.
There is an income shortcut. If you already receive Medicaid, SNAP, or the Family Employment Program, you automatically meet the WIC income requirement. That is called adjunctive eligibility, and it saves you a separate income check.
WIC is more than food. It offers breastfeeding support, nutrition education, and referrals to other health and social services, all set up at your appointment.
Come to the appointment ready so one visit can finish enrollment. WIC adds to your grocery budget, it does not replace it, so a household can hold both WIC and SNAP. You may qualify, but the program decides after it reviews your case.
