Weatherization Assistance Program (Mississippi)

Last updated August 2026

Mississippi's Weatherization Assistance Program improves home energy efficiency to lower utility costs, with measures like ceiling, wall, and floor insulation, air-leak reduction, and furnace repair or replacement. Because the work stays with the home, the savings repeat for years.

The income line is 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. That means no more than $31,300 a year for one person, or $64,300 for a family of four. A working household fits under that line more often than people guess.

Some households move up the list. Assistance is prioritized for seniors 60 and older, people with disabilities, families with children under 5, high energy users, and households with a heavy energy burden. Say if any of those describe your home.

Applying starts online. Apply through Access MS, selecting Community Services. After a pre-application, you receive an appointment notice for your local Community Action Agency within 30 to 45 business days.

The appointment is where it becomes real. You provide proof of residence, income, identity, and household composition, and approved homes receive an inspection and the weatherization work.

Pair weatherization with LIHEAP for help on this season's bill while the home is fixed for the long run. For help, call 1-800-421-0762.
