Weatherization Assistance Program (Utah)

Utah's Weatherization Assistance Program makes free energy-efficiency improvements to your home, so your utility bills drop over time. The work can include insulation, air sealing, and heating-system repairs. The Division of Housing and Community Development runs it through local agencies across the state.
The savings repeat because the fixes stay with the home. Participating households save an average of about 35 percent on energy, roughly $583 per year, after the improvements are done. The help is a non-cash grant, so no money comes to you directly.
Eligibility runs on income. Households making no more than 200 percent of the current federal poverty level are eligible. This covers individuals, families, older adults, and people with disabilities.
Some households move up the list. Priority goes to the elderly and disabled, households with high energy use, emergency situations, and homes with preschool-age children. Say if any of those describe your home.
To apply, submit an application to the local agency that serves the county where you live. You can also ask for a weatherization referral when you apply for HEAT, since the two programs work together.
