Weatherization Assistance Program (Wyoming)

Last updated August 2026

Wyoming's Weatherization Assistance Program makes free energy-efficiency improvements that lower your heating bills over time. The work is done at no cost to you. It shares one application with LIEAP, and the Utility Assistance portal takes weatherization applications year-round. For help, call 1-800-246-4221.

Eligibility is based on income, with an easy shortcut for many families. Wyoming residents with household income up to 200 percent of the poverty level can apply. On top of that, households already getting LIEAP, SNAP, SSI, or TANF automatically meet the income test, so they do not have to prove it again. Approved LIEAP applicants are considered for weatherization automatically.

You do not have to own your home to qualify. Both renters and homeowners can apply, including people who live in mobile homes. If you rent, the program works with the property so the improvements can go forward, which means renters should not skip applying.

The work is chosen to save the most energy for your specific home. It can include caulking and weather-stripping, insulation for the attic, walls, floors, ducts, and water heater, and heating system repair or replacement. It can also cover safety testing of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, refrigerator replacement, and an energy audit. These steps can lower a heating bill by roughly 5 to 25 percent.

The process is steady rather than instant. You apply online through the Utility Assistance portal, and processing can take up to 45 days. Because the portal takes applications all year, you can apply before the cold season instead of during an emergency, which gives the crew time to plan the work.

The work in Wyoming is delivered by regional providers. The Council of Community Services covers five counties and can be reached at 307-686-2730. Wyoming Weatherization Services covers 18 counties and can be reached at 307-347-2200. Pairing weatherization with LIEAP gives you help on this season's bill while the home is fixed for the long run.
