Wyoming LIEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance Program)

LIEAP, the Low Income Energy Assistance Program, helps low-income Wyoming households pay their winter heating and energy bills. It is the state's version of the federal home energy help. The program runs on a seasonal calendar, so timing matters. Applications are generally open from October 1 through April 30 each heating season. The 2025-2026 season has closed. Eligibility is based on income. Wyoming residents with household income up to 60 percent of the state median income level can apply. Both homeowners and renters qualify, including people who live in a permanently parked RV or camper. The benefit is figured for your home, so it is not a flat amount. The award is based on your energy needs, your income, and your family size. LIEAP may not pay your entire energy cost for the year, the season, or even the month, and the highest benefits go to households with the highest home energy costs. There is a bonus to applying. Approved LIEAP applicants are automatically considered for free weatherization work, which makes a home cheaper to heat over time.
